Coroplast lawn sign installed with an H-stake on a residential lawn

About coroplast signs

Coroplast is corrugated plastic, the same fluted twin-wall structure as cardboard but made entirely of weatherproof polypropylene. The result is a sign that is remarkably light, surprisingly strong, and completely unbothered by rain, snow, or mud. It is the undisputed champion of outdoor signage on a budget, which is why you see it on lawns and job sites everywhere.

At First Press we print coroplast in vivid full colour, single or double sided, on a sturdy 4mm board. The hollow flutes also make it easy to slide onto wire H-stakes, so a sign can go from the box to the ground in seconds.

Popular uses

Coroplast is the standard for real estate lawn signs and open house arrows, election and advocacy campaigns, construction hoarding and contractor site signs, garage sale and event direction signs, sidewalk and parking signage, school and sports announcements, and seasonal business promotions like landscaping or snow removal services.

Tips for choosing your options

The 4mm thickness is the industry standard and handles Quebec weather very well. Decide early between single and double sided: lawn signs viewed from both directions of traffic should be double sided, while signs mounted against a wall or fence only need one face. If you are staking signs into grass, order H-stakes with them and make sure your layout keeps the flutes running vertically so the stake slides in.

For mounting on fences or hoarding, ask for grommets in the corners so you can zip-tie or screw the sign in place without cracking it. Coroplast resists water completely, but for installations facing direct summer sun over many months, lamination helps the print stay vibrant.

Design in CMYK with 0.125 in of bleed and bold, high-contrast text readable from a moving car: as a rule, every inch of letter height buys about ten feet of readability. At lawn-sign sizes, 100 to 150 dpi at final dimensions is ideal. Coroplast gets dramatically cheaper per unit in quantity, and ground shipping is free over $200.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a coroplast sign last outside?

The board itself lasts for years outdoors. Print vibrancy typically holds strong for one to two seasons in direct sun, longer with lamination or in shaded spots.

Do you include H-stakes?

H-stakes are an available option at checkout. They slide directly into the vertical flutes of the sign for instant lawn installation, no tools required.

Should I order single or double sided?

If people will approach the sign from both directions, like on a lawn or sidewalk, go double sided. For wall, fence, or window mounting, single sided does the job.

Can you add grommets or drill holes for mounting?

Yes. Grommets or drilled holes are typically placed in all four corners unless you request another layout, ready for zip ties, screws, or wire on fences and hoarding.

How should I set up and upload my artwork?

Always supply a print-ready PDF with at least 1/8 inch (0.125 in) of bleed on every side and crop marks included, built in CMYK. Keep important text and logos at least 1/8 inch inside the trim line so nothing is cut off. If you are not sure how to export it that way, our file preparation guide walks through the exact settings for Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Word. Prefer to design it yourself? Use the personalization option in the upload section to build your artwork right on the page before you order.

Printing both sides? Upload a single PDF with two pages, page one for the front and page two for the back, both the same size with 1/8 inch bleed and crop marks, rather than two separate files. You can merge two pages into one PDF for free with Adobe Acrobat online.
