Tips for choosing your options
Start with viewing distance. A poster read up close, like a menu or research poster, rewards finer detail and smaller text, while a window poster viewed from across the street needs bold headlines and strong contrast above all. The 8 mil MXM stock hangs beautifully on its own with clips, tape, or poster rails; if you want a fully rigid presentation, consider mounting the same artwork on foamcore or display board instead.
Posters are an indoor and protected-window product. For exposed outdoor advertising, a rigid substrate like coroplast or Sintra will hold up better. If your poster will be handled often or displayed for months, lamination adds tear resistance and a finished sheen, with matte recommended under bright retail lighting.
Prepare artwork in CMYK at final print size with 0.125 in of bleed on all sides. What is 8 mil MXM paper?
It is a thick, tear-resistant poster stock, roughly twice the weight of typical poster paper. It hangs flatter, survives repositioning, and gives colours a rich, saturated look.
What resolution should my file be?
Aim for 100 to 150 dpi at the final printed size. Viewing distance does the rest: a poster read from three metres away simply does not need 300 dpi.
Can I hang a paper poster outdoors?
We recommend keeping paper posters indoors or inside a protected display case. For rain and wind exposure, choose coroplast, Sintra, or styrene instead.
Can the same artwork be mounted on a rigid board?
Yes. Many customers order the poster plus the same file printed on foamcore or display board for easel presentation, so one design covers every display spot.
How should I set up and upload my artwork?
Always supply a print-ready PDF with at least 1/8 inch (0.125 in) of bleed on every side and crop marks included, built in CMYK. Keep important text and logos at least 1/8 inch inside the trim line so nothing is cut off.
