Tent cards are self-standing folded cards, around 5x7 when folded, that put your message at eye level right where customers sit, wait, or pay. We print them on premium cardstock heavy enough to stand straight all day, and every card is professionally scored before folding, so the crease is clean and the card snaps into shape without cracking the print along the spine.
Because both faces are visible from opposite sides of a table, a tent card effectively gives you two billboards in one small footprint. Print the same design on both panels for visibility from any seat, or use each side differently, such as a promotion on one face and a QR code on the other. First Press prints tent cards in Montreal and ships across Canada, with free ground shipping on orders over $200.
Restaurants and cafés lead the way: dessert and cocktail features, daily specials, loyalty program signups, and QR codes that open menus or review pages right at the table. Beyond food service, tent cards appear on retail counters announcing promotions, at hotel front desks, on reception desks listing Wi-Fi details, as numbered table markers and welcome notes at weddings and galas, and as session signage at conferences.
Think about lighting and handling. In dim restaurants, a matte finish reduces glare from candles and overhead spots, while gloss makes food photography pop in brighter rooms. If cards will be wiped down between guests, ask us about coated stocks that tolerate cleaning.
Design each panel as its own mini poster: one headline of five words or fewer, one supporting line, one call to action or QR code. Test your QR code at the final printed size, typically at least 0.75 in square, before approving artwork.
Build your file as a flat spread with both panels in CMYK at 300 dpi, with 0.125 in bleed and no critical text within 0.25 in of the fold. Remember one panel appears upside down on the flat layout; we can supply a template.
They ship flat with the score already in place, which protects the print in transit and saves space. Folding takes a second per card; the score guarantees a straight, clean crease every time.
Tent cards win on tables: they stand up on their own, stay put, survive weeks of service, and never look like clutter. Flyers are better as takeaways, such as menus to go or event details guests keep. Many restaurants use both, with the tent card pointing to the flyer.
On premium cardstock, a tent card typically stays presentable for several weeks of daily restaurant service. For longer campaigns or messy environments, a coated or laminated stock extends that considerably.
Yes, we can produce custom dimensions, from slim counter cards to larger formats for buffets and trade show tables. Tell us where the card will live and we will recommend a size that stands reliably.
Always supply a print-ready PDF with at least 1/8 inch (0.125 in) of bleed on every side and crop marks included, built in CMYK. Keep important text and logos at least 1/8 inch inside the trim line so nothing is cut off. If you are not sure how to export it that way, our file preparation guide walks through the exact settings for Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Word. Prefer to design it yourself? Use the personalization option in the upload section to build your artwork right on the page before you order.
