Wall graphics are large-format adhesive vinyl prints that turn any blank wall into a branding canvas. Tips for choosing your options
Start with the adhesive. Permanent vinyl is the right call for installations that will stay up for a year or more, such as a logo wall at reception. Removable vinyl is better for leased spaces, seasonal campaigns, or any wall you may want back, since it releases without pulling paint when installed on a properly cured surface. Whichever you choose, freshly painted walls should cure for two to four weeks before application.
Measure your wall carefully and account for outlets, switches, and trim. Very large designs are printed in panels that overlap slightly during installation, so simple layouts with breathing room around key elements install more forgivingly than edge-to-edge fine detail. Smooth, low-texture surfaces give the best adhesion and finish.
For file preparation, build your artwork at full size or at a clean scale such as 1:10, in CMYK, with bleed on all sides. For wall-scale viewing distances, 100 to 150 dpi at final size is plenty. Will a wall graphic damage my paint?
Removable vinyl is designed to release cleanly from fully cured, well-bonded paint. Permanent vinyl can lift paint on removal, so reserve it for long-term installations or walls you plan to repaint.
Can I install it myself?
Yes. Smaller graphics install easily with a squeegee, a helper, and patience. For full wall murals or multi-panel layouts, a professional installer will get a flawless, bubble-free result faster.
What surfaces work best?
Smooth painted drywall, glass, sealed wood, and metal all work well. Heavily textured, porous, or freshly painted surfaces reduce adhesion. If you are unsure, contact the First Press team and we will advise on the right material.
How should I set up and upload my artwork?
Always supply a print-ready PDF with at least 1/8 inch (0.125 in) of bleed on every side and crop marks included, built in CMYK. Keep important text and logos at least 1/8 inch inside the trim line so nothing is cut off.
