Colourful window graphics applied to a storefront glass facade

About window graphics

Window graphics turn the glass you already have into prime advertising space. At First Press we print three main families: electrostatic films that cling to glass without any adhesive, adhesive vinyl for a durable bonded application, and one-way vision film, a perforated material that shows a full-colour image from outside while people inside still see out.

Each option prints in vivid, fade-resistant colour and can be produced at storefront scale, so whether you want a discreet logo decal or a floor-to-ceiling glass takeover, the same product page covers it.

Popular uses

Businesses use window graphics for storefront branding and logo displays, seasonal sale and promotion announcements, grand opening campaigns, hours and contact information decals, privacy screening for offices and clinics, one-way vision advertising on street-facing glass, restaurant menu and feature displays, and decorative interior glass treatments in offices and gyms.

Tips for choosing your options

Match the material to the lifespan, then to the look. Adhesive vinyl comes clear, letting your design float on the glass, or opaque white, which keeps colours bright by blocking what sits behind. One-way vision is the choice when you want maximum impact outside without darkening the room inside; its perforation pattern reads as a solid image from the street.

Think about which side of the glass you are decorating. Inside-glass installation protects the print from weather and vandalism, while outside installation gives the boldest colour since the image is not viewed through glass. One caution on clear film: a design seen from both sides appears reversed from one of them, so avoid text or ask us to mirror it. One-way vision favours large, bold visuals over fine print.

Prepare artwork in CMYK at final size with 0.125 in of bleed; for full window coverage, measure the glass precisely and use our downloadable layout guide. A resolution of 100 to 150 dpi at full scale is ideal. Outfitting several windows or locations at once is the most economical route, and ground shipping is free on orders over $200.

Frequently asked questions

Which window material is right for me?

It comes down to where the graphic goes and which side of the glass you can reach. Removable adhesive vinyl bonds to the glass or mirror surface with a peel-clean adhesive on the back and works indoors or outdoors, so it is the choice for anything applied directly to the face of the glass. Clear electrostatic film clings to the inside of the window with no glue and reads correctly from the street, ideal when you can only reach the interior but want the message seen outside. White electrostatic film also clings without glue but is made to be viewed from inside, so it suits interior-facing notices and privacy panels. Perforated one-way vision vinyl is the outdoor pick: it mounts on the exterior glass for a bold full-colour image outside while people inside still see through it. Tell us the location and which side you can access, and we will match the material for you.

What is the difference between removable adhesive and electrostatic cling?

Removable adhesive vinyl uses a low-tack glue that bonds firmly to the glass, holds up for longer campaigns, and is rated for outdoor-facing use, yet still peels away cleanly with little or no residue. Electrostatic cling uses no adhesive at all: it holds by static against smooth glass, installs in minutes, lifts off without a trace, and can be repositioned or reused. We typically recommend cling for short-term interior promotions that change often, and removable adhesive when you need a longer hold or an outdoor application.

Can people see through one-way vision film?

Yes, from the inside. The film is perforated with tiny holes, so the printed side shows your message outside while the interior keeps daylight and the view.

Should the graphic go inside or outside the window?

Inside installation lasts longer because it is sheltered from weather. Outside installation maximizes colour punch and is required for one-way vision film.

How long do window graphics last, and when can I install them?

Adhesive vinyl typically performs for around two years, depending on sun exposure. For a strong bond, we recommend applying when the glass is above about 5 C (40 F).

How should I set up and upload my artwork?

Always supply a print-ready PDF with at least 1/8 inch (0.125 in) of bleed on every side and crop marks included, built in CMYK. Keep important text and logos at least 1/8 inch inside the trim line so nothing is cut off. If you are not sure how to export it that way, our file preparation guide walks through the exact settings for Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Word. Prefer to design it yourself? Use the personalization option in the upload section to build your artwork right on the page before you order.

Got window graphics printed for our shop and they came out super clean. Colors really pop and the material sticks well without bubbles. Install was way easier than I thought. Took about a week to get them but totally worth it. Customers already commented on it.
