Coroplast yard sign on a metal H-stake planted in a green lawn in front of a house

About our yard signs

Our yard signs are printed on 4mm corrugated plastic, better known as coroplast, a rigid yet lightweight board that stands up to rain, snow, and Montreal freeze-thaw cycles. We print with fade-resistant UV inks, so your message stays bold through weeks of direct sun instead of washing out after the first heat wave. The most popular size is around 20x26 in, large enough to read from a moving car yet easy to carry a dozen at a time.

Every sign comes with a heavy-duty metal H-stake. The stake slides into the vertical flutes of the coroplast, which means installation takes seconds: push the stake into soil, slide the sign on, done. First Press is a Montreal-based shop and we ship across Canada, with free ground shipping on orders over $200.

Popular uses

Yard signs are the go-to tool wherever you need fast, affordable roadside visibility: real estate open houses and for-sale announcements, election and advocacy campaigns, contractors and landscapers marking active job sites, garage sales, school fundraisers, event wayfinding and parking directions, and grand opening announcements. Because each sign is inexpensive, businesses often blanket a neighbourhood with ten or twenty at once for a campaign-style push.

Tips for choosing your options

Order single sided if signs will sit against a wall or fence, and double sided whenever traffic passes in both directions, which is most lawn placements. Double sided printing typically costs far less than buying two signs.

Design for distance. Keep your main message to five or six words, use lettering at least 3 in tall for drive-by readability, and choose high-contrast combinations such as dark text on a light background. A phone number or QR code belongs in the lower third where pedestrians can scan it.

Prepare files in CMYK at 300 dpi with 0.125 in bleed on all sides, and keep critical text at least 0.25 in from the trim edge. Remember the flutes run vertically, so plan stake placement along the bottom edge.

Frequently asked questions

How long will a yard sign last outdoors?

With UV inks on 4mm coroplast, signs typically stay vibrant for a full season or more outdoors. Many customers reuse election and open house signs for several years by storing them flat indoors between campaigns.

Should I order yard signs or plain coroplast sheets?

Choose yard signs when you need ground placement, since the included H-stake is designed for the vertical flutes. Choose coroplast sheets cut to custom sizes when you plan to zip-tie signage to fences, mount it on hoarding, or hang it in windows where no stake is needed.

Can the signs survive winter?

Coroplast itself handles cold and moisture well. The practical limit is frozen ground, which makes stake installation difficult, so we recommend planting signs before the first hard frost or using fence mounting in winter.

Can I get a size other than 20x26 in?

Yes, we cut coroplast to custom dimensions. Smaller formats like 12x18 in work well for directional arrows, while larger panels suit job site signage; just confirm your stake choice matches the sign width.

How should I set up and upload my artwork?

Always supply a print-ready PDF with at least 1/8 inch (0.125 in) of bleed on every side and crop marks included, built in CMYK. Keep important text and logos at least 1/8 inch inside the trim line so nothing is cut off. If you are not sure how to export it that way, our file preparation guide walks through the exact settings for Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Word. Prefer to design it yourself? Use the personalization option in the upload section to build your artwork right on the page before you order.

Printing both sides? Upload a single PDF with two pages, page one for the front and page two for the back, both the same size with 1/8 inch bleed and crop marks, rather than two separate files. You can merge two pages into one PDF for free with Adobe Acrobat online.
