An envelope is the first thing your recipient touches, and a branded one gets opened with very different expectations than a plain white sleeve. We print custom envelopes across the full range of business formats: the classic #10 for letters and invoices, #9 and #6 3/4 remittance envelopes for return payments and donations, A7 envelopes for invitations and cards, and large 6" x 9", 6" x 9.5", 9" x 12", and 10" x 13" open-side envelopes for catalogues and unfolded documents. Window and closed-face options are available on key sizes.
First Press also offers complete mailing services from our Montreal facility. We can print, address, and dispatch your envelopes, so your campaign goes from press to mailbox without you touching a single flap.
Custom envelopes carry invoices and statements, accounts payable cheques through poly window envelopes, donation appeals with matching remittance envelopes, wedding and event invitations in A7 format, legal documents and contracts in 9" x 12" sleeves, direct mail campaigns, gift card and certificate mailers, and everyday branded correspondence that keeps your identity consistent down to the return address.
Match the envelope to its contents. A #10 holds a letter-size sheet folded in three; choose a poly window or large window version if your letterhead or invoice already carries the address block, which eliminates label printing entirely. For documents that must arrive flat, such as certificates, photos, or presentation pieces, step up to a 9" x 12" or 10" x 13" open-side envelope. Nonprofits running donation campaigns should pair an outgoing #10 with a #9 or #6 3/4 remittance envelope that nests neatly inside.
Envelopes print on uncoated paper stock, which is exactly what you want: it accepts laser and inkjet addressing, handwritten notes, and postage labels without smudging. Keep heavy ink coverage away from the address zone and barcode clear area to stay compatible with postal automation. Prepare artwork in CMYK at 300 dpi using the template for your exact envelope style, since flap shape and window position vary by format. If your design bleeds off the edge, ask us about it early; full-bleed envelope printing has special requirements.
Envelope pricing rewards volume, so consolidating your year's needs into one run lowers your unit cost noticeably. Orders over $200 ship free by ground anywhere in Canada.
Yes. Return addresses, taglines, or small logos on the flap are common and add a polished touch. Use the correct template so your artwork sits properly on the flap shape.
If your documents follow standard address placement for a tri-folded letter sheet, the address shows cleanly through our #10 window formats. Send us a sample document and we will confirm alignment before you print.
We do. Our mailing services cover addressing and dispatching your envelopes directly from our Montreal facility. Contact us for details on list formats and postal requirements.
Always supply a print-ready PDF with at least 1/8 inch (0.125 in) of bleed on every side and crop marks included, built in CMYK. Keep important text and logos at least 1/8 inch inside the trim line so nothing is cut off. If you are not sure how to export it that way, our file preparation guide walks through the exact settings for Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Word. Prefer to design it yourself? Use the personalization option in the upload section to build your artwork right on the page before you order.
